Finally, after inserting himself into conflicts and offering unwanted opinions, Mr Donald Trump did something reasonable and took notice of the climate issue.
On July 29, 2025, Trump’s administration targets the EPA’s climate authority to raise a proposal that says to revoke the “Endangerment Finding”.
Endangerment Finding is known to be the legal backbone of U.S. federal climate action. It was issued in the year 2009 under Barack Obama’s presidency.
He initiated this because CO₂, methane, and other greenhouse gases threaten public health and welfare. So, then this issue legally compelled the EPA to regulate emissions from vehicles, industries, and power plants.
But according to President Trump, the science behind 2009 is outdated and might have flaws; CO₂ is not that unhealthy anymore, and the EPA should not be bound to regulate the previous rules under the Clean Air Act.
Now, the impact that this proposal can make is huge, triggering lawsuits, undermining the federal climate rules, and also weakening the US climate credibility.
A famous climate scientist, Dr Michael Mann, tweeted, “This isn’t just climate denial – it’s institutional gaslighting,” which is true over the years, Trump has been doing nothing but gaslighting and dismantling other countries’ affairs.
Trump might claim it as a “liberation of industry” or “deregulatory victory,” but this is “scientific sabotage”. Even a 10-year-old kid knows the effects of greenhouse gases and CO₂, but I guess Trump lives in his world of delusions. In the name of his 1st promise, “America 1st energy”, he’s making decisions that might face criticism from the climate activists around the globe.
Earlier, he withdrew from the Paris Climate Accord in January. He rolled back the methane emission limits from gas wells and reopened coal leases on federal lands, I guess. This time it’s science vs Trump.
If this rule is finalized a future administration will need years to reverse it. Basically, it’s a bureaucratic time bomb planted for the next president to defuse.
The citizens should realize that it’s their responsibility to stay informed, to speak up, and to vote for leaders in evidence over ego.
