“Saiyaara is overhyped” and “It’s all a PR stunt,” say netizens, but the box office numbers tell a completely different story. Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s starrer Saiyaara has turned them into overnight stars.
The film not only gave a green signal to their careers but also brought director Mohit Suri and Yash Raj Films back into the limelight, delivering box office numbers no debutant-led film has ever seen.
Saiyaara Day 1 Collection: The Opening Nobody Expected
Released on Friday, 18th July, Saiyaara shocked everyone by earning a massive ₹20 crore on its first day itself, far surpassing initial box office predictions. The film has had a phenomenal first week, with a worldwide gross collection of approximately ₹250 crore.
Actor | Debut Film | 1st Week Collection |
---|---|---|
Alia Bhatt | Student of the Year | ₹43.07 crore |
Ananya Panday | SOTY 2 | ₹54.03 crore |
Janhvi Kapoor | Dhadak | ₹51.56 crore |
Ahaan Panday | Saiyaara | ₹250+ crore (globally) |
Over the years, several star kids have made their Bollywood debuts — some successful, some not so much.
But none made a splash quite like Ahaan Panday with Saiyaara. Alia Bhatt entered Bollywood with Student of the Year, which earned ₹43.07 crore in its first week. Her cousin Ananya Panday’s debut SOTY 2 managed a slightly better ₹54.03 crore.
Janhvi Kapoor, daughter of Sridevi, had a promising debut with Dhadak, which made ₹51.56 crore in its opening week.
In comparison, Ahaan Panday’s Saiyaara has outshined them all — collecting ₹20 crore on day one and crossing ₹250 crore worldwide in just the first week.
On the other hand, Shanaya Kapoor’s debut film Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan (released just a week before Saiyaara) failed miserably at the box office despite starring opposite Vikrant Massey.
Saiyaara’s Record-Breaking Run: A Dream Debut
In contrast, Saiyaara has shattered box office records. It crossed the ₹300 crore mark globally in just 9 days — faster than several superstar-led blockbusters. Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan took 20 days, Tiger Zinda Hai took 16, Aamir Khan’s Dangal took 13, and PK took 17 days to reach the same number. It even beat 2025’s highest-grossing film, Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, which took 10 days.
Film | Days to ₹300 Cr |
---|---|
Saiyaara | 9 days |
Chhaava (2025) | 10 days |
PK | 17 days |
Dangal | 13 days |
Tiger Zinda Hai | 16 days |
Bajrangi Bhaijaan | 20 days |
In recent times, Saiyaara also outperformed Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par in a shorter time and surpassed Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 (released May 1, 2025) in India net collection. Ahaan Panday’s debut is now being compared to Hrithik Roshan’s grand launch in Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai due to the overwhelming response. With just one film, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda have already made box office history — a stunning achievement for two fresh faces in Bollywood.
